Alexandra + Laurence

J for Jamie Blog | Al + Laurence Proposal Last month I had the honor to participate in a beautiful proposal for my lovely cousin Alexandra. Al is one of the kindest, funniest and most intelligent people I know so when her boyfriend Laurence asked if I could be part of the day, I was so ecstatic! Laurence planned everything out to the last detail and disguised the day as an "early Valentine's Day". We went up to Tomales Bay to go for a private morning kayak ride, guided by none other than my sister Jasmine. Then we drove down to one of my favorite places, the Marshall Store, to have oysters and champagne. He actually bought an oyster ahead of time, shucked and cleaned it out, attached the ring inside and glued it back together (I know, straight from a rom-com right?!). During lunch, Laurence offered to show Al how to shuck an oyster and the look on her face when she opened it saw what was inside was absolutely priceless. The best part was everyone at the Marshall Store was in on it and started cheering and applauding when he got down on one knee. It was one of the cutest most precious moments in history and I got it all on video!

I am so so so elated for their love and the adventures to come and I'm so excited to see them grow as a couple, they're truly a match made in Heaven. Congratulations Al and Laurence!

YEAR 2015 IN REVIEW

J for Jamie Blog | My GrandmotherJ for Jamie Blog | 2015 in Review To spare you all the details, lets just say the holidays were a bit hectic and I didn't have a chance to do a proper 2015 recap. So as we welcome the New Year (can't believe we're 4 days in already!), I'd just like to take a look back at last year and then put it in the past where it belongs and move forward. All in all, 2015 was a challenging one but looking back at all the memories, I think the good outweighed the bad and I just need to look at everything in perspective. I'm so grateful for the friends and family that make our lives full of adventure, love and happy memories even in hard times - I seriously don't know what I'd do without all of you.

A moment of reflection on the loss of my sweet and beautiful grandmother, Helen. May you rest peacefully as we promise to carry on your loving spirit in our hearts. I love you Popo.

Hailee's Bachelorette

J for Jamie Blog | Hailee Bachelorette We threw our dear friend Hailee a Palm Springs Bachelorette this summer that had such impeccable decor, I had to share! Our friends Adrianna and Keghan organized the whole weekend and really outdid themselves with the decorations. It was a 60's Palm Springs flamingo theme complete with plenty of Hailee's favorite, Veuve Clicquot - Keghan even brought homemade 60s themed bathing suits for some photo ops. We stayed at the Ace Hotel which is one of my favorites and was perfect for the celebration. Check out #haybridechilla on Instagram for more photos from the weekend!

Golden State Warriors Parade

J for Jamie Blog | Golden State Warriors Parade If you haven't heard, the Golden State Warriors won the 2015 NBA Championship for the first time since 1975! Chris and I had the honor of representing his family in the Warriors Championship Parade on June 19th in Oakland, California. I have to say it, it was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had and I felt most undeserving of it. We met with all the old Warrior legends, sat on top of a cool convertible in the parade and then got to hang out with every Warriors person ever - including the whole 2015 team. I am so grateful for this opportunity and so happy I could be there with Chris - it's definitely a day that we'll re-live forever in our memories (I mean, look at Chris' smile in the next photo). Go Warriors!

Santa Barbara

J for Jamie Blog | Santa Barbara I recently went down to Santa Barbara for my lovely friend Kym's bachelorette party. Kym is one of my dear friends from high school, we were in a lot of the same classes but we also played water polo and were on the swim team together. She's marrying a guy named Tyler, whom we also went to high school with so their wedding is going to be quite the reunion and I can't wait! In Santa Barabara, we rented a huge victorian house near the beach. At the end of the weekend, before we went our separate ways, some of us grabbed brunch at the cutest little place called Scarlett Begonia. The cinnamon roll was to die for. I can't wait to see everyone again at the wedding and watch our little Kym walk down the aisle!

Year 2014 in review

J for Jamie Blog | 2014 in Review 2014 was definitely a unique one. I spent a lot of this year figuring things out and taking risks but feeling really unsettled at the same time. This year, I started Blog Party, celebrated our first year of marriage, grieved the loss of our wonderful dog and ended the year with a trip to Europe. In the meantime we've been trying to figure out what the next few years will look like for us. Chris and I are in that weird stage of considering some huge life decisions - like figuring out our careers, if we should buy a house, when to have kids. It's all crazy to think about but weighs heavily on my mind all the time.

Needless to say, I am ending this year in good health, a roof over my head and surrounded by people who I love and adore. I couldn't be more grateful for that. I don't know what this next year will look like, I've never felt so unprepared, but I'm going to do my best. I know there will be hardships but also lots of amazing things and people to celebrate. So with that, so long 2014 and here's to the new year!
