I wasn’t planning on doing a special post about Caffe Sicillia, but after going through my photos again, I was reminded of just how amazing it is. The cannoli at the cafe (recently featured on Chef’s Table) have been voted best in the world and I can’t really argue. Before coming here, I didn’t even think I liked cannoli all that much but Caffe Sicillia certainly changed my mind. I must have gained at least a couple pounds just from having a cannoli (or two!) every night while we were in Noto.
Cannoli is one of those desserts that’s just better left to the professionals. I imagine it’s quite the challenge to get the crust perfectly flakey and sweet and the filling sweet with the right consistency. However, Caffe Sicillia makes them so perfectly, the only challenge is just eating one!
Of course, the cafe serves up plenty of other delightful desserts, like seasonal granitas, which Chris enjoyed as well. Conveniently, the cafe is located right in the middle of town, across from the big church. So we would order some dessert to go and sit on the steps to watch the nightly street performers.
My mouth waters just looking at the photos we took!
